Eligibility Criteria
Some of the eligibility criteria for this scholarship are given below:
- Only students who are permanent residents of any of the North Eastern States are eligible for the award.
- The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) will be the exclusive method used to award scholarships under this program to candidates who are attending school in the 2020–21 academic year and beyond. However, until the completion of their scholarship term, students who were already receiving scholarships before the implementation of these regulations will continue to get them by the current policy.
- Once a candidate has been chosen, the scholarship will be awarded to them for the length of the course provided they meet the requirements for renewal as specified in these regulations, paragraph 6. Scholarship extensions that are granted after the required study period will not be considered.
- A student will only be considered for a scholarship in the year that their course begins. Naturally, only renewals will be permitted for the next year.
- Students whose parent or guardian’s annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs 8 lakh are eligible for the scholarship. The candidate must provide the income certificate that was issued by the appropriate authorities.

Commissioner /Addl.Dy.Commissioners/Sub-Divisional officers of a civil subdivision in the NE States expect Sikkim where a certificate of identification (COI) is issued by the respective deputy commissioner in the govt of Sikkim to its permanent residence. A certificate from any other authority will not be accepted.
- Specifics of the qualifying exam
- In the case of M.Phil./Ph.D. applicants, a synopsis is signed by the project guide, the director of research, or any other authority designated by the institute or university.
Educational Qualification:
Diploma:
- The qualifying test is the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC/HSSLC) which must be taken from an approved State or Central Board and earn at least 60% of the possible points.
Degree:
- Examination required for qualification: Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) from an approved State or Central Board with a minimum of 60% overall.
Postgraduate:
- The exam required for qualification: A degree-level exam in any field (BA, BSc, BE, B Tech, MBBS, LLB, BCA, BBA, etc.) from any accredited university or institute with a minimum of 60% overall.
M.Phil/PhD:
- A postgraduate degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 60% overall is required for qualification.
