The Diaspora Children Scholarship Program (SPC) was introduced to students for the first time during the 2006-07 academic year. Students who qualify for the scholarship will get financial aid. Children whose parents were born abroad but choose to remain there for work or educational opportunities are referred to as diaspora children. Students can apply to undergraduate programs at Indian universities under this Scholarship Program for Diaspora Children. The chosen students will get USD 4,000 annually.

Objective of Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children SPDC 2023

The primary goal of the Scholarship Program for Diaspora Children is to enable children from the diaspora to return home and complete college studies. It will increase the popularity of Indian education abroad. The scholarship money will cover the student’s living expenses, tuition, books, housing, and many other costs.

Benefits of Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children SPDC 2023

The benefits of this scholarship are given below:

1st Year75% of the entire institutional economic cost up to a USD 4,000 annual limit, whichever is less.
2nd YearIf you receive 50% of the possible points overall, you will receive 75% of the entire institutional economic cost up to a limit of USD 4,000 annually, whichever is less.  
90% of the scholarship will be awarded if less than 50% of the students receive passing grades.   If you are promoted but do not have an excellent grade in every course, you will receive 50% of the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are given below:

  • Applicants must be people of Indian descent, non-resident Indians, or children of Indian workers studying abroad in an ECR country or India studying abroad in an ECR country.
  • The applicant should be between the ages of 17 and 21.
  • The applicant must hold a certificate of passing the 12th grade examination with at least 60% of the possible points.
  • The applicant’s family’s yearly income should not be more than USD 5,000.
  • A student must have been admitted to undergraduate programs in agriculture, animal husbandry, engineering, technology, liberal arts, commerce, management, journalism, and hotel management among other subjects.
