Objective Of NBHM Doctoral Scholarship 2023
The objective of this program is to provide scholarship for pursuing doctoral studies (leading to a PhD degree) in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. And another objective is to financially support the students by providing the scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants who will be able to clear the NBHM Doctoral Scholarship test and an interview after the test
- Candidates who wish to enroll by August 2023 in the Ph.D./ integrated Ph.D. program of an institute that receives from NBHM the test scores for screening for admission to that program are also eligible
- Aspirants must be enrolled in a full-time Ph.D. program in Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics in a recognized institute/ University
- Must not have drawn the NBHM Doctoral Scholarship in the past

Selection Process
A written test will be held based on questions in topics normally covered in Master’s degree program in mathematics. The test will be for two and half hours and involve questions with short answers. Selection will be made on the basis of a written test followed by interview of short-listed candidates.
The written test will be conducted at the following centers divided into five separate zones:
- Zone 1: Chandigarh, New Delhi
- Zone 2: Allahabad, Indore, Jabalpur
- Zone 3: Goa, Mumbai, Pune, Vallabh Vidyanagar
- Zone 4: Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ranchi, Shillong
- Zone 5: Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad

Financial Aid
- Initially the monthly stipend for NBHM Doctoral Scholarship will be INR 31,000/- per month
- After 2 years it will increased to INR 35,000/- for subsequent years
- The yearly contingency grant for the scholarship is INR 40,000/-
- Application fee includes INR 500/- at the time of submission of application form
